If you're feeling a bit run down now winter's approaching, and you're wondering if you may be anaemic, don't just assume it's your Iron levels that are low. Did you know Vitamin B12 deficiency is another very common cause of anaemia, especially in menstruating women and older people? Symptoms of deficiency often include: flashing lights before your eyes, dizziness, fatigue, paleness and "jumpy legs".

As vitamin B12 is water soluble (rather than fat soluble like some other vitamins) it can be safely taken even when a deficiency has not been confirmed. Taking B12 with orange juice is often advised (as vitamin C aids absorption). A boost of B12 can be like a volt of energy to those who have become deficient. You'll soon be dancing your way to work on these colder mornings!
