I bought a tea that says "Breathe Easy" on it and it says that it is made with Organic Licorice Root. Well it smells awful but it tastes pretty good. I don't take it as recommended (the box says 3x daily). I was wondering if taking pill form might be better for me or did I buy the wrong thing. I suffer from the lungs. Right now I don't know if I have a respiratory infection or if it is still allergies. Can anyone enlighten me?

In order to get the medicinal components out of the licorice root, you have to boil it in water for 20 minutes. You should make up a jar of tea in the morning and you can drink it throughout the day. The store bought bags that only steep in non-boiling water for a short time more give you the taste of licorice but not much of the other good stuff. Good luck.

I was suffering from weakened strength in muscles and tissues, a slight fever and bouts of cold, and more symptoms of stress post abortion ( 1 and a half weeks after now). I had started to crave liquorice. I at first ate some licorice with wheat by accident - for which i suffered being gluten intolerant; my gut became bloated and inflamed with made everything and their process near more painful. BUT when I later found the gluten free liquorice; with in minutes the feeling of prolapse ( not saying it was), weak and inflamed tissues and muscles in the area, small fever, small depressions or stresses related .. all gone. the next morning I woke feeling balanced and right!

I am an asthmatic all my life. Two days ago I was told to take licorice tea morning and night (before bed) for persistant cough. Not only cleared the persistant cough, helped with asthma tremendously. When ever I feel tightness in the chest, immediately make a tea with licorice and drink. No inhaler has been taken. Very good remedy.

I don't know about anyone else, but i've experienced hair growth on the top of my head. Not many people noticed, but i did since i used to see straight through to my scalp, where now, its dark enough where the view of my scalp is hazy. I was also putting in the coconut oil, but i suspect it was more the licorice root after what i read above..

How many times has this happened to you? You start to feel a canker sore forming and then you eat a mouthful of food and suddenly bite down on the area where the sore is forming? The pain shoots through your entire head. Ouch! I've been there many times myself. Suddenly, you're now faced with a sore that will last for a week.

Licorice is wonderful, it has a powerful inflammatory action. I took the tea just 1or 2 cups a day fror 6 months, symptoms of endometriosis disappeared. Rosacea also calmed down, I noted how the redness disappeared from cheeks, nose. IBS symptoms vanished, thryoid problems....I would never have beleived that something like licorice could have helped so much, I was amazed. More research need to be done into this powerful shrub/herb. I only discovered it by chance, I noted that it helped me to sleep, I discovered the other health benefits over months of use.
I would say that if yo have any inflammatory condition, try licorice, the tea is brilliant.
I am a late forties female going through perimenpause, I have been incredibly unwell. HRT has not helped.

I'm excited to try this because I have a LOT of the problems it can fix. But I'm new to herbal remedies, and confused: do I need to chew the stick of the root, drink a tea, inhale by essential oil in bath..? I have breathing problems as well as awful anxiety and stomach upset. Thanks for your help in advance! :)

I took licorice root when I had mono and it quickly went away. I would recommend anyone with mono to look into it since there is no apparent "cure" available from regular doctors (I was given dosage amount by my naturopath)

I have had excellent results using licorice tea to deal with chronic gastritis. Before taking licorice, treatment of gastritis with regular antacids caused a vitamin B12 deficiency. After taking licorice tea on twice a day for 6 months, gastritis is under control and no side effects.

Any truth to the comment about the tea not being beneficial? Where do you get the root? Lots of places have ginger root but I have never seen licorice root. Please advise.

I've just started using liquorice capsules for an irritating non productive night cough that I've had on and off for years. Problem solved! Recommendation is 1 capsule 3 x times daily but I find that one before I go to sleep is enough to keep the irritating cough away.

Licorice Root  actually with  use will cause you yo gain weight ass much as 6lbs water  weight because of the way it affects the liver causing water retention if you see this happening stop for 4 days and the liver will return to normal and the weight will drop right off. And as always read the lable most products have very little licorice they are supplemented with fennel and anise

Pleas email me on iz.ziffa@gmail.com. Thanks

You can get chewing licorice root from your local healthfood store normally. They should also be able to tell you how much to use of it. My mother used that form of it to help her quit smoking, and it worked like a charm.

I recently read about clinical trials involving liquorice root in treating menopauasl symptoms. Having suffered from hot flushes on and off for about 3 years I decided to try it, in addition to the other natural remedied which I already take. These have helped, but not enough. I decided on a fairly mainstream preparation, Solgar extract of liquorice root, and took 1 tablet a day as the study claimed that this worked on tiny amounts of root extract taken. 3 weeks into it, my hot flushes have completely disappeared (!!!!) and most importantly for me, I am sleeping like a baby. I had been suffering from interrupted sleep and felt horrible for months The final symptom I have experienced is that I actually got a light period for the first time in over a year. It's absolutely incredible, it feels like I've started HRT ( a couple of friends are on it and describe the same results). Has anyone else experienced this?

I take Licorice Root capsules and recently ran out of them and went a week without them and my nightsweats returned along with restless and disruptive sleep. I didn't realize they had took care of that till I stopped taking them. I also feel like my sinuses are better while taking Licorice Root.
