Echinacea purpurea Reviews

When I feel that particular "scratchy" throat, I know that a cold is coming on and I immediately take 2 Echinacea tablets then 2 more about 12 hours later. Thereafter, 1 tablet twice a day to ward off colds or diminish their effect and duration. Don't take it for more than about two weeks, as continual use is not recommended.

Years ago, I was prone to strep throat infections and would get 1-2 a year. I got sick of taking antibiotics and tried echinacea. It seems to have helped, as I no longer get strep throat, and it's been quite a few years.

2 capsules late evening -- and straight to bed. The next morning you forget all about it, 'cause the cold that was creeping down your throat is gone.

Also, forgot to mention, I buy only the combination of Echinacea with Goldenseal... I find them both together doing a better job when I get the first signs of a cold... And again, they do best when taken at night, before bedtime.

I have read that Echinacea capsules can be taken for 2 weeks, but must be followed by 2 weeks without. Anyone know why? I find it very effective in keeping chronic HSV-2 outbreaks at bay, but wish I didn't have to take a 2 week break each month.
